Holistic Postpartum Doula Support in Los Angeles

Bringing a baby home is beautiful — and it can also feel exhausting, anxiety-provoking, and full of questions.

What you need most in those early weeks is care that helps you recover, rest, and ease into your new role as parents. It is meaningful to have a postpartum doula who knows what’s normal about babies, lactation, and postpartum, AND also trusts your ability to navigate the ups and downs of newborn life. I am there to support your growth into your role as a parent to your little baby.

What does a Postpartum Doula even do?

As a holistic postpartum doula, I offer both emotional and practical support, tailored to your family’s needs.

Sometimes that looks like a calm presence and reassurance around feeding or lactation. Other times it’s preparing nourishing meals, straightening the kitchen, holding your baby so you can nap, or simply being there to listen when things feel hard.

My support may also include tidying up, laundry, meal planning, creating feeding or pumping plans, helping with pets, and taking out the recycling or trash.

My role is to ease some of the household burdens so you can rest, recover, and focus on bonding with your baby.

Postpartum is a tender and transformative time. With the right care and encouragement, you don’t have to just “get through” those first weeks — you can feel truly supported as you grow into parenthood.I

Postpartum Doula Support FAQs

I plan to have family and friends around, do I really need a postpartum doula?

Maybe yes, maybe no… Having family and friends nearby can be an incredible resource. At the same time, those relationships can come with their own dynamics, expectations, or opinions, which sometimes makes it hard to get exactly the kind of support you need.

To me, a benefit of a postpartum doula is that I show up without baggage or expectations — my focus is solely on you and your family. I listen and respect your wishes, share evidence-based information, answer questions, prepare nourishing meals, and you don’t have to feel weird about asking me to fold your underwear and take out the recycling. Think of me as an extra layer of calm, consistent support that complements the love and care you already have around you.

What is your specialty as a Postpartum Doula?

I am a Cooking Postpartum Doula! I love to cook for my clients. I am a believer that the hardest days are made much better with some good food and a nap. Food and naps can be magic for parents (and babies).

Are you qualified to help me with breastfeeding?

Absolutely! A lot of my care is focused on lactation and helping you figure out how it all works, and how to find a rhythm for feeding that works for your family. I am a Certified Lactation Educator through BreastfeedLA, so I am qualified to support normal breastfeeding concerns. If any complicated feeding challenges arise we would contact an LA area IBCLC for more support.

What is the difference between a postpartum doula and a nanny/night nurse?

A nanny or night nurse primarily cares for the baby. A postpartum doula supports the whole family — caring for parents, offering education and encouragement, and easing household responsibilities so recovery and bonding can happen more smoothly.

What if I’m not sure I’ll need help?

It’s common not to know exactly what you’ll need postpartum before your baby arrives. We can make a flexible plan — you don’t have to commit to a long schedule up front. Sometimes even a few visits in the first few weeks make a big difference. I am always open to add visits if my schedule permits.

Client Testimonials

“The best gift I gave myself in my birth was hiring Rebecca as my postpartum doula.

Rebecca provided me with so much emotional support. She answered my endless questions as a first time parent and helped instill in me a sense of confidence in my own intuition. She helped me process this radical change of becoming a parent and my birth experience. We had such meaningful and fulfilling conversations during this tender time. I cannot imagine a better person than Rebecca to have in your corner in the birthing process. She has a gift for this important work.”
